At this time there are no paid positions available at 68Caliber.com.
With that being said, there are opportunities to use a relationship with 68Caliber.com to your benefit. Additionally, as things develop, we fully expect compensated positions to become available. Individuals who have already established a working relationship with 68Caliber will be given these opportunities first.
68Caliber is looking for the following:
1. Reporters and Photographers – both freelance and ‘staff’
Compensation:
Where necessary, you will be provided with a Press Pass, often allowing you access to behind the scenes happenings at events
You will receive a by-line and credit for your work.
Ownership of submitted materials is negotiable; 68Caliber is primarily interested in first electronic publication of your work. We also request that you allow us to keep an archived copy for research purposes. If you wish to retain copyright in your materials following the initial publication, all you need to do is ask.
In the event that materials appearing on 68Caliber are compiled and re-sold (such as a book of articles or a CD of images) you will be contacted prior to this use for permission. You will also be offered one of several different royalty-based forms of compensation if you do grant permission.
2. Regional Editor
We are looking for personable, organized individuals to serve as regional coordinators for different areas of the country (and other ‘beats’, such as ‘mainstream news’, ‘international’ and ‘the internet’.
These individuals will be provided an email account on 68Caliber, the opportunity to supply editorial matter, the opportunity to write a blog hosted on 68Caliber* and will be asked to develop local reporting resources – a stable of locally based reporters, writers and photographers, as well as coordinating the submission of materials and the development of stories.
3. Bloggers
We are interested in hearing the individuals point of view and will consider hosting a blog. If you are interested, we are looking for people who can committ to writing an entry at least once a week, as well as people who can offer an interesting perspective on the industry: are you a high school player? a manufacturer? a professional from another industry with unique information to share? Let us know.*
4. Graphic artists.
We occassionally have a need for purchased graphic arts. We are also interested in looking at and promoting the work of those in this field. We’d be happy to look at paintball illustrations, designs and other related materials. If you would like to be considered in the future when we are looking for graphics work, please let us know.
5. Comic Artists
We’d like to start running some weekly/monthly comics on 68Caliber. We request first publication rights, after which rights return to you, the originator. We will promote and advertise your work.
6. Informants, minions, gnomes and other travellers.
Every once and a while, everyone has something they’d like to get off their chest. If you want to publicly air your views, please feel free to get in touch with us. If you think something funky is going on in the world of paintball and want someone to look into it, get in touch.
Keep in mind though that not every story is appropriate for public distribution and 68Caliber has ethical guidelines that it must adhere to. Also keep in mind that we respect people’s confidences and any information you may provide to us is considered to be OFF THE RECORD unless you decide otherwise.
*We are currently working on a revenue sharing plan for blogs – the basic concept being that your blog will be hosted on 68Caliber.com and will display advertising, part of which you will receive in compensation.
